After plenty of speculation linking Leeds United’s star striker to Burnley, he has released a statement ahead of their game against Sunderland later today.
And it’s safe to say that it hasn’t gone down well with Whites fans.

The 25-year-old has bagged 44 goals in 88 appearances since joining from Leicester in 2015. So it’s not hard to see why fans are, well, a bit pissed off.
To kick us off, one fan posted a photo of the ‘Side Before Self’ mantra, suggesting a picture really does speak a thousand words…

One fan suggested he should pay for every single child who chose to have his name on their shirts. I reckon the chances are this lad has pictures of him on his bedroom wall, too.
He should donate that to pay for replacement shirts for all the children who opted to put his name on their shirt

Another fan did his best to convince himself it was all Leeds’ intention anyway.
Chris Wood has one good season at Leeds finishing as the championship top scorer and all of a sudden hes worth £15m. Well played Leeds #lufc

Perhaps our favourite of all of the Chris Woods tweets, though, is this one. It’s also a real contender for Didn’t Happen of The Year 2017.
My son just cried when I told him about Wood. He said "when I play for Leeds I'll never leave". He's 6. #lufc ❤️⚽️

This lad knows how to handle grief:
Gonna have to get absolutely wankered tonight to try and forget the fact Chris wood is going to fucking Burnley… #lufc

A creative reaction here from one fan who mentions Charlie Taylor who left Leeds for Burnley in July:

Then again, another Twitter user had the right attitude in the face of panic:
I rember us selling Cantona, Yeboah, Hasselbaink, Viduka, Smith & Keane, Rio, Woody etc etc etc….
I'll cope with selling Chris Wood ??

Looks like Wood won’t be rushing back to Elland Road for a while.
