
With less than two weeks to the most hyped fight in living memory, Conor McGregor took some time out of his busy training schedule to acknowledge a gesture from Celtic’s Green Brigade.
Fans in Celtic’s safe standing area returned from a two-game UEFA ban for unfurling an illicit banner in their earlier Champions League qualifier tie with Linfield in a big way last night.
Before spanking Astana 5-0 and almost assuring their passage to the group stages of Europe’s premier club competition, the Green Brigade took inspiration from Conor McGregor’s infamous prophecy after beating Diego Brandao in Dublin in 2014.
Surrounded by the club colours, the display was emblazoned with the immortal words, “We’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over.”
McGregor would be forgiven for not commenting on the banner as he prepares for his mega-bout with Floyd Mayweather next week, but the Dubliner took to Twitter this morning to praise Celtic and their fans to the hilt. Check it out below:
