Europa League: Make Thursday triumphant with this 41/1 acca

Manchester United continue their journey through Europe's back roads…

Not to worry football hipsters, there’s still some European football to come on Thursday as the Europa League enters its quarter-final stage.

The carrot of a Champions League stop daggles temptingly in front of the eight clubs that remain in the competition, so putting down a marker in these first legs will be ultra-important for those teams still in the hunt.

Ahead of the ties we’ve had a look at the all-important stats and picked a fantastic foursome that could deliver for our punters at just over a 41/1.

Let’s take you through our picks…

Net some great Europa League punts on

Anderlecht v Manchester United, 8.05pm, BT Sport 2

After finally removing themselves from their comfort zone of sixth place in the Premier League, Manchester United know they still have work to do to wedge themselves into the fourth and final Champions League spot.

However, winning the Europa League may provide a simpler and frankly easier route for Mourinho’s men to return to Europe’s leading club competition, however they must get over Belgium challengers Anderlecht first.

The home side are unbeaten in their last five outings and haven’t tasted defeat at home since December, so don’t expect a walk in the park for The Red Devils. However, United have been solid in their away trips of late – only losing one of their last seven.

With Zlatan Ibrahimović back banging in the goals, you’d have to think United will justify their 19/20 favourites tag and pick up a win in Belgium.

Best of the rest in Europe

Elsewhere, Ajax welcome Schalke 04 to the Amsterdam Arena in a tie that’s proving very tight for our traders to call.

We’re leaning towards the Dutch outfit at 29/20 however, as the Germans have lost two of previous four away days and Ajax have won every home game in Europe this season.

Next, we travel to Spain as Celta de Vigo take on another Belgium League representative in Racing Genk.

Having seen off domestic rivals Gent convincingly in the last round, Genk will be full of confidence. However, Celta face far tougher tests week in and week out in La Liga – so we’ll go with the home side at 4/7.

We round off the jaunt through the continent with the meeting of French aristocrats Lyon and Besiktas of Turkey.

We’re going to buck the trend here and pull for the Turks at 9/2 as Lyon are in a horrible run with only one victory in their last five, while Besiktas are undefeated in their last 11 games.
