Newcastle’s Mohamed Diame must have rubbed his lucky rabbit’s foot and stuffed about ten four-leaf clovers down his shorts in the lead up to last night’s game with Brighton, as he netted one of the jammiest goals you’re ever likely to see.
Brighton and Newcastle have been locked at the top of the Championship for nearly the whole season now and they met at The Amex yesterday with The Seagulls leading the league by just a single point.
Glenn Murray gave the home side the perfect start netting the opener (he always seems to score when he’s on Sky, bloody show pony) from the penalty spot after 14 minutes. However, after that Brighton had to withstand a barrage from The Magpies.
Their luck seemed hold for the majority of the contest, but it very quickly evaporated in the 81st minute when Newcastle’s Diame netted a bizarre goal off the back of a scuffed shot and a pair of freaky deflections.
I definitely meant that??

To make matters worse for the Seagulls they surrendered top spot eight minutes later as substitute Ayoze Perez landed a last minute winner to help Newcastle to run out with a 2-1 away win. You can see Diame’s goal for yourself below, but we still can’t understand how it went in:
