Can we make it two Hotshot Jackpot wins in a row? Here are our goalscorer selections...

BURNLEY v SUNDERLAND: ANDRE GRAY

He scored his second of the season in Burnley’s last game against Middlesbrough, his first goal since August. But the real sway towards a Burnley scorer comes from their impressive record on home turf. They may have only managed two bag two goals away from Turf Moor this season, but at home they have claimed 19 points from a possible 27, bar the Swansea game on the opening day of the season. Their only defeats came against Arsenal & Manchester City.

MANCHESTER UNITED v MIDDLESBROUGH: ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC

Who else? The Swede has well-and-truly proved his critics wrong, bagging 17 goals in 26 games, including in United’s Boxing Day win over Sunderland. If that isn’t enough to convince you, he is just two goals off passing Lionel Messi’s 2016 club goals record and topping the charts. Over to you, Ibra…

SOUTHAMPTON v WEST BROM: VIRGIL VAN DIJK

West Brom are now six matches without a clean sheet, and despite Saints’ inconsistencies it would seem foolish not to pick a home-team goalscorer. The obvious choice, Charlie Austin, is of course out with a long-term injury he picked up in the Europa League. Van Dijk looks a real aerial threat from set-pieces, bagging one against Spurs last week despite his side’s loss.

SWANSEA v BOURNEMOUTH: JOSH KING

Despite Bob Bradley being sacked after just 11 matches, it seems unlikely that Swansea will be able to quickly repair the errors that have found them off the foot of the table purely on goal difference. They have conceded 19 goals in their last six matches, and Josh King bagged in both games against the Swans in the 15/16 season making him a tempting choice here.

LEICESTER v WEST HAM: ANDY CARROLL

The reigning champions have won just one of their last nine Premier League matches, whilst The Hammers have turned their season around, securing their third consecutive victory in the league. Andy Carroll set up his side’s first and scored their last in their 4-1 thumping of Swansea, alongside earning himself the Man of the Match yellow block thingy. He’s finally fit, and seems a sensible choice.

LIVERPOOL v MANCHESTER CITY: ROBERTO FIRMINO

No Premier League team has scored as many goals as Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, and we are backing this to continue in the biggest clash of the festive season. Firmino scored in both the home and away legs of this fixture last season, alongside bagging against Arsenal and Manchester United in 15/16, proving he doesn’t go missing when it’s needed. Sergio Aguero is also a very worthy shout here after returning from his ban.

WATFORD v TOTTENHAM: HARRY KANE

Watford have never managed to defeat Spurs in a Premier League game, drawing twice and losing four times. Meanwhile, Tottenham looked on fine form as they smashed four past Southampton, with Harry Kane bagging one of them. He has seven goals in his last eight league appearances in January, and we are confident he can make that eight in nine on New Year’s Day.

ARSENAL v CRYSTAL PALACE: OLIVIER GIROUD

The Frenchman scored the only goal of the game in the dying minutes of Arsenal’s last fixture against West Brom. He already has three Premier League goals against Palace, making him a fairly simple selection here. Arsenal have a near-perfect record against The Eagles in the Premier League era, losing just one game way back in 1994. This should be a straight-forward game at The Emirates.
