Southampton v Tottenham: Refill your Christmas stockings with this 11/2 shot

Spurs will need to improve their away form to get anything in this live game

Wednesday’s live game sees Tottenham travel down to the south coast to take on Southampton in the Mauricio Pochettino derby.

Spurs go into this game in decent form having won three of their last five games and their comeback victory against Burnley last time out sees them sitting in fifth place.

Pochettino’s men have struggled away from home this season and their last win on the road came against Middlesbrough in September. They are 6/4 favs to end this run at St. Marys.

Despite a relatively poor start to the season, Southampton can be happy with their home form this season. Only table toppers Chelsea have managed to beat Claude Puel’s charges at St. Mary’s thus far.

The Saints typically struggle during the festive period, and featured in our list of ‘teams not to back at Christmas’. Combine that with the fact they have only beaten Spurs once in their last 8 attempts and 9/5 doesn’t look a big enough price for the win here.

I’m going to plonk myself down on the fence and go with the draw at 23/10. And will be having a few notes on the 1-1 score line priced at 11/2.

With just 17 goals, Southampton haven’t been scaring too many defenses this season but their attacking outlets looked much improved during the impressive win over Bournemouth last weekend. Jay Rodriguez looked back to himself netting twice and is decent shout to open the scoring in front of the home crowd here at 6/1.
