Man City’s worst run of form since December 2008
Man City have had a great time in the last eight years. Winning league titles, qualifying for the Champions League, buying some of the world’s best players, life has been sweet for City fans and the appointment of Pep Guardiola looked to be the start of something even more exciting.
City have now gone six consecutive games without a win for the first time since December 2008. Harking back to a time when Mark Hughes was in charge of a side that regularly featured Blues legend Richard Dunne at the back, misfiring midfielders Stephen Ireland and Shaun Wright Phillips and the far from prolific Darius Vassell up top.

So lets have a look at what was happening back in the heady days of December 2008, the last time City failed to win in six consecutive matches.
1. Liverpool were top of the Premier League
Liverpool, then managed by Rafa Benitez, were leading the field after 19 games of the 2008-09 season and looked liked they could go all the way. The Reds only lost 2 games that campaign but a string of draws allowed Man United to sneak in and take yet another title away from their Scouse rivals.
2. Kauto Star won the King George at Kempton
Unlike Liverpool, there was no stopping Kauto Star and Ruby Walsh as they won their third King George in a row. The pair went back to Kempton the following year and pulled off another King George triumph. Further success at Cheltenham would follow.
3. Alexandra Burke was Christmas no.1
Back in the day the X-factor was dominating both TV ratings and the music charts. 2008 was no different with Alexandra Burke, who saw off competition from JLS to win the competition, bagged Christmas no.1 with her cover of Jeff Buckley’s Hallelujah.

4. George Bush was US President
While the Blues we’re busy continuing their winless run away at Fulham, George Bush was preparing to move out of the White House as his term as US president came to end.
5. Joe Swash won I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here
Who could forget perhaps one of the biggest events of 2008. Swash secured the coveted jungle crown after beating Martina Navratilova and George Takei in a hotly contested I’m A Celebrity final.

6. Jamie Vardy was playing in the 7th tier of English football
Darius Vassell looked a more likely Premier League winner than Vardy back in 2008. The Leicester striker found himself in the Football League’s 7th tier playing for Stocksbridge Park Steels on a wage of £30 a week.
