Watch former Middlesbrough striker get booked for twerking in the MLS

Even for us this really is a first!

Just when you thought you’d seen everything in football, something like this comes out of nowhere.

We are all familiar with the rather silly rule that sees players pick up needless yellow cards for taking their shirts off or jumping into the crowd while celebrating.

However, you would suspect twerking isn’t a word that figures in the official FIFA rules of the game.

Well, as former Middlesbrough striker Kei Kamara found out it’s probably best not to do it on the football pitch!

Kamara was a Boro player for a single campaign in the Championship, scoring four goals from them in the 2013-14 season. Since then he’s plied his trade in Major League Soccer, joining New England Revolution last May.

The 32-year-old decided to celebrate by squatting and thrusting suggestively after scoring his side’s third goal in an easy 3-0 victory over Montreal Impact yesterday.

It seems the referee wasn’t a fan of Kamara’s moves and gave him a yellow card for what he deemed to be an excessive celebration.

It’s fair to say judging by Kamara’s reaction he wasn’t one bit happy with that decision. Check out the incident below:
