Punt of the Week: Capoue to score first and Watford to win 3/1 (500/1)
Manchester United fans were left dumbfounded this weekend, losing three games in one week. The Derby performance was shocking, Feyenoord was equally as dire until a complete capitulation on Sunday as The Reds lost to Watford for the first time in 30 years.
As they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Our punter from Blackburn who backed Etienne Capoue to net the first and a 3/1 final score will be laughing this morning.
Capoue opened the scoring for The Hornets shortly after the half an hour mark. Marcus Rashford quickly levelled from close range, assisted by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Mourinho’s men continued to flap, flounder and ultimately drown. Juan Zuniga powered Watford back ahead with his first touch of the game, 53 seconds after coming on the pitch. Troy Deeney was fouled by Marouane Fellaini in injury time, bagging himself a penalty to seal the deal.
The dying-minutes penalty left our punter in a stupor, £500 richer on a Sunday afternoon. Nice.
Banker: Manchester City to beat Bournemouth, 1/4
Plenty of punters went for Manchester City to smash Bournemouth this weekend. City are absolutely flying at the moment, leaving the Red side of Manchester left in a cloud of dust.
Unbeaten in all competitions this season, scoring 25 goals so far, it is easy to see why the money flooded in for them at 1/4 to beat Bournemouth on home turf.
Kevin De Bruyne put City ahead, continuing where he left off in the previous week’s Derby win. Kelechi Iheanacho came up for more, followed by Raheem Sterling sealing the three points. The final goal was scored by Ilkay Gundogan – the first player to score on his Manchester City Premier League debut since 2012.
Next in the firing line are Swansea, who face The Blues in the League Cup and the Premier League this week. Good luck with that, lads.
Blowout: Manchester United, 4/7
It is easy to understand why plenty of lads and lasses put their hard-earned behind United at Vicarage Road. United had not lost against Watford since September 1986, but much like rules, records are there to be broken.
The Watford lads didn’t just break the record, they smashed it into pieces, spat on the remains and sealed the deal with an injury-time penalty.
United fans were left dejected, and it seems a lot of the pre-season optimism is waning. United are out to to lift the Premier League trophy. In an even more sickening blow, Liverpool have been cut to
Marcus Rashford was The Reds’ only saving grace, again. He is 33/1 to be United’s top goal scorer and 7/5 to find the net against Northampton on Wednesday.
Obvious punt: Romelu Lukaku to score anytime 10/11
After netting a hat-trick last week – and netting two Hotshot Jackpot customers £162.5k each – he looked obvious to do it again against Middlesbrough and did so at the half-time mark.
A Maarten Stekelenburg own goal put ‘Boro ahead, but Everton fans had no cause for concern. Gareth Barry levelled it off on his 600th appearance, followed by a slick finish from Seamus Coleman.
A neat touch from the big Belgian saw the points wrapped up, and secured with a big blue bow, by half-time. Looks as though Romelu’s goal drought is done with, then.
Nobody Saw: James Tomkins and Crystal Palace 4-1
Perhaps the only Manager waking up this morning feeling worse than Jose Mourinho was Mark Hughes. He had what can only be described as a shite-result hangover.
Sparky’s side lost 4—1, making it two games in a row where they have conceded four goals. Ouch.
Defender James Tomkins opened the onslaught from Palace with a set piece goal in the 9th minute. He was 33/1 to score first going into the game!
This was followed by another set piece goal from centre-back counterpart Scott Dann. A deflection from James McArthur and Andros Townsend’s first goal put Palace four in front. A consolation goal from Arnautovic in the final minute finished the game.
The 4-1 result was a pocket-filling 40/1 to land and Tomkins was 33/1 to score first. Not one punter picked up the scorecast, come on lads. You’re slacking!
