Being honest with you, Euro 2016 so far has been a little disappointing in terms of quality. Compared to the tournaments we’ve seen recently, it hasn’t been high enough often enough. While it’s great to have the small countries like Wales, Iceland and Northern Ireland through, the quality has suffered because of it. I think UEFA will be happy though.
It’s all coming to a close on Sunday night now between France and Portugal. I’ve gone for a correct score bet to go alongside the TV Tipsters but the difference is mine will happen.
Les Blues
Germany were supposedly the best team in the tournament but I didn’t think so. They were toothless, they lacked a cutting edge and the French were always going to catch out Germany on the break. We knew the Germans were going to have more of the ball and they did. But they didn’t know what to do with it.
In my Euro 2016 preview for Paddy Power I tipped France to go all the way and they haven’t disappointed me so far. But there’s so many underlying stories in this match. France have the younger of the two squads and on paper they are far stronger than Portugal. The big battle is at the back.
The French defence are suspect – the Germans didn’t have an out and out target man but Portugal do…
One man team?

I don’t think France will double mark Ronnie. This is his last opportunity at to win a trophy at the international level. By the time the World Cup rolls around he’ll be 35 and past his peak. So there’s pressure on him and more importantly pressure on his team to deliver for him and Portugal.
They should’ve won Euro 2004. Inexplicably, they lost twice to Greece in the same tournament and we all know what happened next. You thought that they would beat Greece and they didn’t, everyone thinks France will beat Portugal…
Le Championnat?
I think that France are going to win this on home turf and make some more history and I think they’ll do it in style with a 3-1 scoreline at. The Portuguese looked out on their feet in the quarter finals and that was against a side that stretched them. France are going to stretch them further than a Slinky.
I’m also looking at Antoine Griezmann for first goalscorer. He’s full of confidence and everything he’s touching these days turns to goals.
