A sunny Sunday catching some rays soon had me palming my iPhone for a mixture of French Open and pre-Euro friendlies after all the GAA activities for the little ‘uns were done.
Before I knew it, a 16-fold acca (are you insane I hear you cry?) was followed by a 12-fold acca, because, yes, I probably am.
Having emptied €16 from my account I was all set to gain a whopping €2,004.
It. Could. Not. Be. Easier.

EVERYTHING else came in! (one tennis match voided, didn’t affect my bet, didn’t feel the need to find out why – sincerely hope it wasn’t fatal or catching).
Spain, despite ALL their class players being at Saturday night’s Champions League final, still WON.
Venus Williams being in the shadow of her sister’s thighs – WON. The USA generally being bad at football WON.
But Germany despite winning the World Cup four times and being the current World Cup Champions couldn’t get it together and beat Slovakia. Inside I’m screaming.
But I picked myself up and did what every sound-minded punter would do – another ACCA.
Anyone for tennis or possibly football …..
Why not? I had 15 out of 16 up and 11 out of 12. I was one leg away from a big one. I opted for a more technical selection process this time and went with 13. Payback was €1,600 on a €10 until Osasuna v Huesca kicked off.
I have to be honest in admitting I wasn’t quite sure if the selection was tennis or football until there was no mention of a set or service by Osasuna ….. and then it happened, the underdog growled and bit into my betslip, 12 in out of 13. Are you freaking kidding me?
Nearly as frustrating as having Russell Knox and Brooks Koepka in a double last week in the golf – both leading going onto the 17th … I don’t want to talk about it.
So wrap up your betslips in the varying sized round balls and get punting because I’m convinced it’s there for the taking.
