C'mon you boys in green...

Ireland legend Mick McCarthy has joined Paddy Power for Euro 2016. The Ipswich manager will contribute a series of columns to this blog, as well as a number of other little social surprises during the summer.

Ireland kick off their Euro 2016 campaign against Sweden at the Stade de France on June 13, followed by Belgium in Bordeaux on June 18, and Italy in Lille on June 22.

Mick captained Ireland, playing 57 times for his country, and also led Ireland to the last 16 of the 2002 World Cup as manager, ending with a narrow defeat to Spain.

At a press conference in front of the Irish media at Powerscourt, Co Wicklow on Friday, the Barnsley-born, former Celtic, Manchester City, Lyon and Millwall player said: “I’m delighted to be working with a company such as Paddy Power, with their reputation for quality and originality. I promise to offer up any insight I can on the key games on these blogs, as well as a bit of entertainment along the way for the brilliant Irish fans.”

Cheers, Mick.
