This Stupid Punt section of the Blog is all about highlighting some of those loopy-looking bets at monster odds. All that’s required to make them click is a little bit of brains, a little bit of balls and a massive dollop of luck. Here on the Paddy Power Blog we’re all dreamers.

Here are three of the most outrageous bets we’ve dug out of Paddy’s Premier League book this week and a few stats to try to back them up.
Rudy Gustede to score first and Aston Villa to win 3-1

- Aston Villa have beaten Chelsea 3-1 nine times out of 140 meetings between the two – most recently in 2011 thanks to Darren Bent, Stillyan Petrov and Stephen Ireland
- Villa have just 22 goals – the lowest in the Premier League
- Gestede has a 37% shot accuracy from 55 attempts. Wilfried Bony has played less minutes, has the same amount of shots but has a 44% accuracy.
- Aston Villa are not very good at football.
Odion Ighalo to score first and Watford to beat Arsenal 3-0
At odds of 900/1 there’s one customer that’ll be sweating.
- Ighalo scored against Arsenal at the Emirates but has just one league goal in his last 11
- Watford have won three league games away to Arsenal and have scored 7 goals in those 3 games
- Arsenal have only lost four Premier League games 3-0 in fourteen years
Daniel Sturridge to score first and Liverpool to beat Tottenham 5-3
One punter backed this at odds of 1,500/1
- Liverpool have won 5-3 twice in the last 40 years– both against Stoke in 2014 and 1976
- Danny Sturridge scored in the Britannia. He’s got four goals against Spurs but they’ve all come at White Hart Lane.
- In 164 games between the two there’s never been a 5-3.
- On only four occasions has one team scored five or more.
