Odds reflect that punters are still wary of the hunting at the top
Eagle vs Fox - but when the Fox wins what does he say?
Eight games. A five point lead over second place, and a twelve point gap between them and 4th. Two more victories will see the Foxes in Europe. And yet they’re still odds against in the betting for their Saturday game against Crystal Palace. That’s despite topping every table bar defense (damn you Heurelho Gomes). Weirdly, despite being odds against for Saturday, they’re odds on to win the title from this position.
Throughout the season, Paddy Power has been losing a fair bit of money when it comes to Claudio Ranieri’s men. If a punter had thrown a tenner on Leicester to win their game every week, they’d have a tidy profit of €119.50. That makes them one of the most profitable teams to follow this year. The stats for Saturday make their odds even more baffling. Palace haven’t won in 12 games, they’ve conceded a goal in each of their last 10, and haven’t won at Selhurst in their last five.
People are still expecting a Dream Team style turn, like a revelation that Jamie Vardy was impaled by Claudio Ranieri on a dressing room peg, or Wes Morgan being fed a dodgy pizza after keeping a clean sheet which will leave him in hospital for the rest of the season. They’re pretty crap but we’re not paid to be soap storyline writers. Arsenal’s annual bottlejob has already been written, and Spurs will be hoping for a Nick Cotton or Den Watts style comeback.

Despite four tricky looking fixtures in their remaining eight, Vardy and co are on track to complete the turning of English football on it’s head and win the league at odds of. You can get odds of for them to continue their form on Saturday. Palace should be safe if they can somehow reverse their from and avoid their 10th loss on home soil. To put that into a bit of context, not even Aston Villa have lost ten at home this year. VILLA!

Pardew’s side are to swoop down and steal three points, with the draw at. The London side are (at time of writing eight points clear of Norwich and Sunderland in 17th, but still have to visit Manchester United, Arsenal, Southampton and West Ham.
Speaking of the Hammers, they top that league of most profitable teams. If you’d bet a tenner on the Irons every week, you’d be sitting with a profit of €321.30, mainly thanks to victories away at Anfield, the Etihad and the Emirates so far this season. Up against Chelsea at odds of, that number could rise even further. Check out the odds for that match here
One things for sure. You won’t hear the famous drums of Albert Square just yet. We think there’s going to be one more final twist in the title race. If Leicester can survive it, they’ll take the trophy.
