12:45pm: Ryan Joyce v Ryan Searle
Searle to win & Searle to hit 1+ 180s in each set
Kicking things off we have Ryan v Ryan in Joyce v Searle. This year Joyce is unseeded so he’s already played a couple of matches, beating Darius Labanauskas and then sending Danny Noppert home as well.
It’s been as you’d expect from Ryan Joyce so far, he’s a very calm, solid character and he’s been averaging in the low 90s. However, I feel like Ryan Searle hasn’t been talked about enough.
He’s the world No.20 and averaged 99 in his 3-0 win over Matt Campbell. He threw in some huge finishes as well so I think this match will be all about Heavy Metal.
I’m going for Searle to win and Searle to hit 1+ 180s in each set in the #WhatOddsPaddy markets. That’s a nice price, that one.
2pm: Scott Williams v Ricardo Pietreczko
2+ 180s to be hit in each set
Up next we have Scott Williams taking on Ricardo Pietreczko. Pietreczko, like Ryan Joyce, is unseeded so has already played a couple of matches.
He looked pretty good against Gian van Veen where he was the slight underdog and averaged a little bit higher than his seasonal average at about 91.5 to send the young Dutchman packing.
For Scott Williams it’s all about being the showman. He loves getting up on a big TV stage and just entertaining, really. Nothing emphasises that more than his win over Rob Cross, the world No.5, in the last round.
He did well to get rid of his good mate there so I’m going for a Scott Williams win again. Also, having a look at the #WhatOddsPaddy markets, one that sticks out at a price is 2+ 180s to be hit in each set.
3:15pm: Nathan Aspinall v Andrew Gilding
Aspinall to win 4-2
Finally we have Nathan Aspinall taking on Goldfinger, Andrew Gilding. I thought Gilding was alright, actually, because he was the slight underdog against Martin Lukeman last time out but he got the job done.
Aspinall averaged slightly less in his second-round tie but we know that if there’s one thing about The Asp that you can rely on it’s that he loves a big stage and he loves a fight, a battle, up on that stage.
It’s interesting because he’s put his injury problems behind him now, he says he’s in a really good place. He wasn’t feeling very well before his second-round tie so hopefully he’s back to full fitness and I’m expecting Aspinall to come out on top against Andrew gilding, 4-2 is my prediction.
