7:15pm: Gerwyn Price v Joe Cullen
Price to win 4-2
This is probably the hardest match to call on Friday night!
Neither of them have had great seasons but if you look at the stats, you’d probably edge towards Gerwyn Price as he’s averaging about 97 for the season.
Joe Cullen sprung a bit of a surprise when beating Wessel Nijman after not doing too much this year. It was arguably his best performance of 2024 and he seemed fired up.
It’s hard to know whether Cullen will replicate that level of performance which is why I’m edging towards a Price win. He also has previous success out on that Ally Pally stage. I’m backing Price to win 4-2.
8:30pm: Jermaine Wattimena v Peter Wright
Wattimena to win the match, hit the most 180s and have the highest checkout
This one seems much easier to call as Jermaine Wattimena and Peter Wright face off.
Wright has had arguably the toughest year of his career, whereas Wattimena has had his best yet.
Yes, there were signs of life from Wright when winning in the second round, but Wattimena was a runner up in the European Championship and he’s averaging 98 at this tournament.
This will be comfortable so I’m backing Wattimena to win the match, hit the most 180s and have the highest checkout.
9:45pm: Luke Humphries v Nick Kenny
3+ 180s in each set
Defending champion Luke Humphries returns to action on Friday night as he faces Nick Kenny.
Kenny is at this stage for the first time in his career and he’s also retained his Tour card in the process.
He’s had a good tournament so far but facing the top seed Humphries is a different story. He hasn’t needed to get out of first gear yet.
There isn’t value in backing Humphries to win so I’ve dived into the #WhatOddsPaddy markets and I like the look of 3+ 180s in each set.
