12:45 Steven Burton v Alexander Merkx – Burton to win 3-1

Steven Burton, who’s making a first appearance in 2019, takes on a debutant in Alexander Merkx. Merckx qualified via the Challenge Tour, and it’s hard to call how he will perform, so I’m going for Steven Burton.

He has proved throughout the year that he can compete with the best. Earlier this year, he reached a semi-final in the Pro Tour, beating Dirk van Dijvenbode, Rob Cross, and Damon Heta.

Also, he beat the likes of James Wade at the Players’ Championship final. So I’m going for a Burton win, 3-1, in our curtain raiser of the afternoon.

13:45 Wessel Nijman v Cameron Carolissen – Nijman to win 3-0

Then, we have Wessel Nijman meeting South Africa’s Cameron Carolissen. Carolissen is averaging in the 80s this season. It will be a tall order for him to get a set off Wessel Nijman.

Nijman has been one of the performers of the last few months. At the Grand Slam, yes, he didn’t make it out of the group, but he averaged 106, 105, and 111 average in his group games.

He topped the development tour order of merit, so I’m going for a 3-0 win. It will be hard for Corollison to get a leg off the young Dutchman in that one.

14:45 Ian White v Sandro Eric Sosing – White to win 3-1

Then up third, we have Ian White meeting Sandro Eric Sosing. It’s hard to know what Ian White will turn up on Friday afternoon because he’s been so inconsistent.

That was epitomised at the Players’ Championship finals, where he averaged 1-0-3 and beat Michael Van Gerwen. Then, he was annihilated, averaging 76 against Mike de Deca.

Sandro Eric Sosing made his debut last year. He’s got a seasonal average in the low 80s, which is why it’s hard to call. I think it will go, um, not all the way. I think it’ll go to four sets, but I’m going for an Ian White win based on experience. So, Ian White to win 3-1 in that one.

15:45 Stephen Bunting v Kai Gotthardt – Bunting to win 3-1

In our final afternoon match, we have the Masters Champ, Stephen Bunting, meeting Kai Gotthardt.

Gotthardt came through his opener, beating Alan Soutar 3-1, averaging 89. But I’m positive Stephen Bunting will have an excellent run this tournament. He won the Masters at the beginning of the year but didn’t make it into that Premier League lineup.

I know how much that hurt him. He’s made so many finals on the pro tour this year. He’s in a tough quarter because it’s got Luke Humphries in it. But I’m positive he can have a good run, so I’m going for a Stephen Bunting win, 3-1, in that final match of the afternoon session.
