Ladies and gentlemen, very best of order, please…
Let’s play darts – after you’ve had a quick look over our sensational cheat sheet for the Paddy Power World Darts Championship!
That’s right, it’s that time of year again when doors and plastered walls start quaking at the thought of dartboards being mounted – and then frequently missed – with enthusiasm as we all fancy flinging a few arrows at home having watched the best in the world make it all look so easy on the telly.
It’s definitely coming down with the decorations in January.
We’ve gathered together a plethora of big names from the darting world – Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith, Rob Cross, Gary Anderson and James Wade – to give us their quick-fire thoughts on the biggest bonanza of double and treble hitting on the planet.
Let’s get stuck in…
Michael van Gerwen
Michael Smith
Rob Cross
Gary Anderson
James Wade
Michael van Gerwen
Not including me? Luke Humphries.
Michael Smith
Luke Littler.
Rob Cross
Humphries.
Gary Anderson
So many could win it now, but if you’re looking at bets, Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, and Michael Van Gerwen are tough to look past.
James Wade
Gary Anderson.
Michael van Gerwen
I don’t mind playing anyone.
Michael Smith
I don’t really mind who I’m playing so I can’t answer.
Rob Cross
I’m not really bothered who I play.
Gary Anderson
No one, really. I’ve always said that the bigger the player, the more I like it, you know. I struggle with players that I don’t know much about because you never know what they’re going to do up there.
James Wade
I can’t say there’s anyone now. It used to be Phil Taylor.
Michael van Gerwen
Me. It would be a surprise if I win it because if you’re going to look at my preparation towards the World Championship I don’t think people expect me to win now but I have to show them different.
Michael Smith
Chris Dobey could be one. He’s been doing well this season so far.
Rob Cross
Could be Richie Edhouse.
Gary Anderson
If you’re looking for an outsider, Ryan Joyce or Michael de Decker, but there are so many playing well it’s hard to pick one.
James Wade
I’m not expecting many surprises this year looking at the tournament.
Michael van Gerwen
Me.
Michael Smith
I will.
Rob Cross
Myself.
Gary Anderson
Luke Humphries.
James Wade
Luke Humphries.
Michael van Gerwen
Four.
Michael Smith
A minimum of two.
Rob Cross
I’m going to go for two.
Gary Anderson
Are Paddy Power going to lose some money over it? I’ll say three.
James Wade
I’ll go for a big and bold two.
