THE BIGGER 180: PADDY POWER PLEDGES £180,000 BONUS FOR EVERY 9-DARTER AT WORLD DARTS CHAMPIONSHIP

The Big 180 is back - and it's even BIGGER!

Paddy Power has once again turned to the most skilful darts players on the planet to save the lives of men across the UK.

Following the success of last year’s The Big 180 initiative, we’re back with a life-saving pledge – and this time, it’s even BIGGER. Teaming up with Prostate Cancer UK, the Professional Darts Corporation and Sky Sports, we’re launching The BIGGER 180 at the 2024/25 World Darts Championship!

That means, once again, Paddy’s going to dig into his pockets and donate £1,000 to Prostate Cancer UK for every 180 scored during the tournament.

But this year, the stakes are supercharged – with a colossal £180,000 bonus up for grabs every time a player nails a nine-darter.

If that’s not worth dressing up like Super Mario and dancing on top of a table for the TV cameras then I don’t know what is!

Oh, and the £180,000 bonus will be split equally between Prostate Cancer UK, the player who throws the perfect leg, and one lucky fan in the iconic Ally Pally crowd.

Mamma mia! Where are my red dungarees and fake moustache?

Last year, The Big 180 campaign raised £1 million to support Prostate Cancer UK’s lifesaving risk awareness work after 914 180s were hit, with Paddy Power rounding up the final donation to the seven-figure sum.

This year, the campaign aims to smash that total, with funds supporting Prostate Cancer UK’s groundbreaking TRANSFORM trial. As the most ambitious prostate cancer screening trial ever, TRANSFORM will find the best way to diagnose the disease early – and pave the way for a national screening programme that could save thousands of lives.

With Sky Sports joining as an official partner, The BIGGER 180 campaign will harness the combined power of darts’ biggest players and platforms to spread awareness and drive action.

Now for the the #realtalk – Paddy’s doing all this because 1-in-8 men will get prostate cancer at some point in their lives and your risk is even higher if you’re over 50, if you’re Black or if you have a family history of the disease.

Most men don’t have symptoms in the early stages and there’s currently no screening programme inviting men for regular tests. That’s why too many men are dying from prostate cancer – but finding it early, when it’s easier to treat, is critical to saving lives.

Paddy Power and Prostate Cancer UK aim to inspire at least 180,000 men to take the lifesaving risk checker this year. Early action saves lives – don’t wait. Take 30 seconds to check your risk today: prostatecanceruk.org/darts-risk.

This Christmas, fans will be encouraged to take just 30 seconds to check their risk of prostate cancer using  this easy online tool. While raising awareness across the UK, the campaign will focus on reaching men in regions like Scotland, Wales, the North West, the South West and the Midlands, where there are higher numbers of men who are diagnosed too late to be cured.

Our own tungsten-twiddler Paddy Power said: “We’re buzzing to bring The BIGGER 180 to this year’s Paddy Power World Darts Championship. Last year’s campaign was an absolute triumph, raising over £1 million and proving just how powerful darts can be in making a difference.

“This time, we’re stepping it up with a £180,000 bonus for every nine-darter – split between Prostate Cancer UK, the players, and the fans who make Ally Pally magic. It’s darts, it’s drama, and it’s saving lives – what more could you ask for?”

Laura Kerby, Chief Executive of Prostate Cancer UK, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to team up with Paddy Power again for The BIGGER 180. Last year’s campaign was a staggering success – raising an incredible £1 million, getting record numbers checking their risk and making a huge impact for men and their loved ones.

“With The BIGGER 180, we’re aiming to reach even more men right across the UK. And the funds we raise along the way will help us move one step closer to a future where all men are invited for regular, accurate tests – which could save thousands of lives.”

A Sky Sports spokesperson said:

“It’s a privilege to be part of The BIGGER 180 campaign, especially after seeing the outstanding work and money raised last year. We look forward to using Sky’s platforms to widen the reach and provide meaningful change in order to help save lives.”

Matt Porter, Professional Darts Corporation chief executive, said:

“The BIG 180 was darts’ biggest-ever charity partnership and it’s exciting to see this grow even further for the 2024/25 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
“The BIGGER 180 will directly benefit the TRANSFORM trial, and given the amazing standard produced by players during 2024, we could not only see a record number of 180s hit during the event but also multiple nine-darters!”
