Premier League of Darts – Night Eleven

Luke Littler made it back-to-back night wins last week, defeating Gerwyn Price in the final in Manchester. The 17-year-old now sits one point clear of Luke Humphries at the top of the table. At the other end, Price’s run to the final put him within seven points of fourth-placed Michael van Gerwen overall, but even with six weeks to go, it feels like a mountain to climb for Price and Cross to get into the top four. The less said about Peter Wright the better

7:45pm – Rob Cross v Luke Littler – Luke Littler to win and most 180s

Luke Littler enjoyed a very strong first half to the campaign, despite not winning a night, but he put that record to bed in style with back-to-back wins in Belfast and Manchester. Cross and Littler have met twice in the Premier League with one win each, although Littler has posted the highest average and most 180s in both games.

Rob Cross will be typically hard to beat, but on current form it’s hard to look beyond a Luke Littler victory here. His 180-hitting hasn’t been as consistent recently, but with Cross one of the lower maximum-hitters in the tournament, Littler shouldn’t have trouble hitting more than his opponent here.

8:15pm – Gerwyn Price v Michael Smith – Both Players to Hit 3+ 180s Each

Price and Smith have met four times so far in this campaign, with Smith leading the head-to-head at 3-1. Price’s win came in a dominant display in last week’s semi-final. The Iceman is playing the better darts of the two right now and I’d fancy him to win (-1.5) in the handicap market at even money.

However, you can’t look at this game and not think 180s, with both players right up there with the big hitters in the competition. Smith has hit three or more 180s in 75% of his games (12/16) in this year’s Premier League, while Price has done the same in 56% (9/16), and Both Players to Hit 3+ 180s looks a great price.

8:45pm – Michael Van Gerwen v Nathan Aspinall – Total Legs – Over (+9.5)

Nathan Aspinall has continued to defy the odds in this Premier League campaign, leap-frogging MvG into third place last week. He’s proved difficult to beat and has taken his opportunities, and I think he’s under-estimated here at 11/8. I wouldn’t want to put anyone off The Asp on Most 180s & Win Match at 7/2 either.

For the Acca, I’m playing it slightly safer with both players to win at least four legs. MvG has won both meetings between these two this season at 6-4, and that was during his spell of three consecutive nightly wins. He’s not quite in the same vein of form as he was in February and this one should easily be competitive enough to see 10 legs of darts.

Trader’s Pick Of The Power Prices: 7:15pm – Peter Wright v Luke Humphries

Alongside the eye-catching treble on offer, our pick of Paddy’s Power Price comes in the opening clash as Peter Wright takes on Luke Humphries.

Wright is rooted to the bottom of the table, with just two wins to his name, and his campaign isn’t about to get any easier. Humphries ended a nine-match winning run with defeat to Michael Smith last week, but has dominated Snakebite so far this campaign with three wins at an aggregate score line of 18-6.

The World Champ averaged well over a hundred in each of those games, delivering the Most 180s and Highest Checkout each time as well. Despite some decent performances in the competition of late, I don’t expect Wright to trouble Humphries too much here, with a repeat of those match trebles a very appealing price.
