Kim Huybrechts v Richard Veenstra – Kim Huybrechts to Win
Kim Huybrechts has been a quarter-finalist here before and made the last 16 last year. He rarely loses in his opening match at the Aly Pally and I can see that trend continuing. Veenstra played okay in his first match, but I fancy Kim Huybrechts to advance. He’ll maybe drop a set, but he’ll come through and comfortably take his place in the last 32.

Callan Rydz v Ricardo Pietreczko – Callan Rydz to Win 3-2
Ricardo Pietreczko has been one of the most improved players on tour this year. He won a European tour and qualified for the Grand Slam. He dealt with the threat of Mikuru Suzuki really well in their opening-round tie. Callan Rydz is under a lot of pressure, defending a lot of prize money from two years ago, but I’m gonna go for him to thrive in the pressure-deciding set.
I’m backing Callan Rydz to Win 3-2.

Jonny Clayton v Steve Lennon – Jonny Clayton to Win 3-0
Jonny Clayton has not been playing well since that run to the final of the Matchplay in July and faces Steve Lennon who had a really good comeback win in his first match. This is a good draw for Johnny Clayton, he needs to play his way into the tournament and comes through comfortably in straight sets.

Daryl Gurney v Steve Beaton – Daryl Gurney to Win 3-1
We haven’t seen ‘Superchin’ in the tournament yet as he’s had to wait a while to take his bow. This is a match that can see him advance, though but he may drop a set. Gurney’s been to a couple of quarter-finals and he’s due a good run.
