Paddy Power hosts pre-World Darts Championship tournament… with some secret special guests

Some night up The Horseshoe, this.

To celebrate Paddy sponsoring the 2024 World Darts Championship the big man decided to put on a little tournament to give away some free tickets to the winners.

Dozens of amateur darts players assembled at The Horseshoe pub for a simple knockout doubles tournament with the winner getting their hands on the freebies.

However, as always with Paddy, there was a sting in the tail and you can watch the full video below.

Paddy decided to go all Mrs. Doubtfire and get the prosthetics out to disguise the quality quartet of Jonny Clayton, Nathan Aspinall, Joe Cullen and Chris Dobey as they went undercover to thrash and eliminate all the punters from the tournament.

That’s not very Dartsmassy, is it?

Thankfully our pro players avoided embarrassment as they swept aside the amateurs. It also meant Paddy kept hold of his free tickets that can now be used as Christmas presents. Result.

Let’s be honest, there were never any tickets.

But, after some consternation about how good four of the players were, the amateurs were delighted to see some of their heroes emerge from the changing room after discarding their disguises to go at it in the Ally Pally Open final!

The pints flowed, selfies were taken, hands were shaken and signatures were signed.

A good time was had by all and we also got a harrowing glimpse into the lads’ futures.
