The best darts players on the planet are preparing to head to north London for the latest instalment of the Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
That’s right, our fearless leader’s stuck his name to the festive fiesta at Alexandra Palace from Friday, December 15 to the finale on Wednesday, January 3.
Michael Smith is the defending champion after defeating Michael van Gerwen in a high-octane final to get his hands on the Sid Waddell Trophy for the first time earlier this year.
There has not been a repeat winner of the World Darts Championship for eight years, however, so ‘Bully Boy’ faces a stiff challenge to retain his crown.
Does he have a chance? Well, Paddy’s top traders certainly think he does as Smith is among the favourites in our outright betting market for the tournament.
The latest Paddy Power World Darts Championship odds are on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise the prices for the leading contenders can be seen on our snazzy betting widgets below.

Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship odds
Luke Humphries is favourite to win the Paddy Power World Darts Championship after continuing to climb the darts tree this year. ‘Cool Hand Luke’ – a three-time quarter-finalist at Ally Pally – hit the bullseye with his maiden PDC premier event success in the World Grand Prix earlier this year and continued his hot streak by clinching the Players Championship Finals last weekend.
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Michael van Gerwen is next in our outright betting. The Dutchman has collected the Sid Waddell Trophy on three previous occasions and continues to be one of the dominant forces on tour. If there’s one concern about this year’s Premier League winner, however, it is that he’s failed to land the big one at Ally Pally since 2019.
As the tournament takes place at Christmas, it seems only fitting that the panto villain of the piece, Gerwyn Price, is third in our early betting. ‘The Iceman’ won the PDC World Darts Championship in 2021 – played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic – but he’s crashed out at the last-eight stage in the previous two tournaments.
Despite storming to glory in the previous edition of the PDC World Darts Championship, Michael Smith is only fourth in our outright market as he guns to become the first player since 2016 to secure back-to-back victories. The world number one has not enjoyed much success since Ally Pally, however, and recently crashed out of the Grand Slam in the group stage.
