Chris Hammer from Sporting Life is here to guide you through what promises to be an absolute cracker. Who’s coming out on top and heading into the semis? Here’s Chris’ best bet for Gerwyn Price v Michael Smith on New Year’s Day.
I think Michael Smith is now the player of the tournament. He played brilliantly in his first game with a 106 average which is still the best to date and against Jonny Clayton, to come from two sets down and show the bottle was impressive.
He came through, averaged 99 hitting all those 180s with two 100+ checkouts in pressure situations. He’s been playing a lot better than Gerwyn Price. Dirk van Duijvenbode didn’t turn up in the last round so he had a nice easy game but before that he’s really struggled.
He’s averaging 95, Smith is around the 100 mark and is hitting way more 180s. I just think this could be Smith’s time. I really do fancy him now to go on and win the title.
I think it goes without saying that I think Smith will Win. I think if you thrown in most 180s as well and you’ve got a great double so Smith to Beat Price and to have the most 180s.
