PDC Home Tour: Get to know the dartists in action on Saturday night

Not everyone in the competition is a familiar face, so we've profiled a selection from tonight's contests.

Michael Smith

  • Age: 29
  • World Ranking: 5

  • Nickname: Bully Boy

Michael was runner-up in the World Championship at the Ally Pally in 2019 and the World Matchplay in Blackpool in 2019. He was also second best in both the Masters in Milton Keynes in 2020 and the Premier League in 2018.

He’s never won a feature event on the PDC tour but has had some success in minor events. He was PDC World Youth Champion 2013 and he also won £25K when lifting the Gibraltar Darts Trophy in 2017. These are a couple of highlights of his career to date. Michael is deservedly touted as a future world champion.

Harry Ward

Harry has been playing the PDC circuit since 2014.

His best performances in the World Championship was in 2020 where he made the last 64. His best PDC feature event average was in the third round of the UK Open in Butlin’s Minehead in 2019. He averaged 96 there when losing out 6-4 to Jan Dekker.

Martijn Kleermaker

Martijn has played in the BDO from 2014 up until the BDO World Championships at the O2 in London this year.

He reached the second round there, losing out to Paul Hogan in the last 16. He averaged 92 in that second-round match having averaged 93 in his first round. He has had some success on the BDO circuit including wins in the Welsh Open 2019 & Luxemburg Open 2019. He’s just recently acquired his PDC Tour Card.

Matt Clark

  • Age: 52
  • World Ranking: 82
  • Nationality: English
  • Home: Walkden, Greater Manchester, England
  • Nickname: Superman
  • Walk on Music: Superman Theme by John Williams

Matt has been on the circuit since 1996. He was a regular at the TV stages of the BDO world Championships in the 90’s. His best performance in the BDO World Championship at Lakeside was when he reached the quarter finals in 1996, losing out to Les ‘McDanger’ Wallace 4-1.

His best performance in the PDC World Championship was in 2006 where he made the last 32, losing 4-1 to eventual champion Phil Taylor. Matt won a PDC Challenge Tour event in 2015 but hasn’t had any notable success since. Career total prize money is a respectable £200K.
