Snakebite Snaps his cold streak

“I turned my form around this year with a lot of practice, basically. Even when things weren’t going well, I was playing well in practice, I’d be playing well in patches, averaging 110 for a while or more, and then I’d follow up with an 89 or 90.”

“It was about keeping going and getting more consistent instead of being high one day and then throwing a rubbish average of 80-odd.”

“And I was mucking around with different darts as well.”

“Hopefully, I can find a set of darts that I’m happy with for the next few months. If I don’t, I don’t, but I know now that, in my head, I’m ready to play and do my best.”

“I’m just trying to find that little bit extra that’ll make my game more consistent. Trying to find more 180s because the standard’s gone so high on the tour. You need a lot of 180s now, and my game has gone up a lot.”

“In my game I’ve gone up a lot too – I think I’m ranked among the highest 180 scorers in the world this year.”

“And you know it’ll eventually come right because you know what you can do in practice. It’s going to come out, you just believe in yourself and what you’re doing.”

Grand Prix Double Trouble

“I like the Grand Prix format, it’s a leveller. You could be playing MVG or Rob Cross, and you know they can go 180, 180 from the start, but when it comes to starting on a double it levels things up a bit.”

“And it’s exciting for the crowd.”

“Some of the fans are amazing with how they dress up and support us at the darts. some of them would have ideas for me and my on-stage appearance, and I’m always on the lookout for different designs for what I wear on stage – different trousers, different designs.”

“I thought they’d see me playing Adrian Lewis tonight, to be honest, but obviously Jermaine Wattimena is a very good player.”

“He’s beaten me quite a few times on the floor tournaments before.”

“I did face him last year and beat him here in the second round though, so hopefully I get the same result tonight!”
