Australia Vs Pakistan
9:30 AM – 20th October, Bangalore
Tv Coverage: Sky Sports Cricket
Australia to win
Pakistan have a woeful record against Australia in recent years. Since losing to Australia at the 2015 World Cup they have won just three ODIs out of 14 times they have faced each other. This run included Australia winning 10 consecutive matches over a span of five years. Despite Pakistan’s recent series victory over Australia in 2022, Australia will go into this clash confident they can continue their strong record. Australia to win.
Babar to be Pakistan’s top run-scorer
Pakistan’s talisman averages 74 against Australia with five 50 plus scores and three centuries from nine matches. During Australia’s tour of Pakistan in 2022, Babar scored two centuries as Pakistan won the three-match series. Babar is well-set to carry on this form and be Pakistan’s top run-scorer.
Top batsman to be Australian
With Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi in their ranks Pakistan have a strong fast bowling attack. HoweverAustralia’s record against quick bowling is impressive. Since the 2019 World Cup they have averaged 43 against balls bowled over 140kph, striking at 6.2 runs per over in that time. This is the best record against quick bowling of all teams at the tournament. In this same period, Pakistan’s quicks have bowled 31% of their deliveries at over 140kph which is the most for any team. At the tournament so far Rauf’s average speed is 143kph, second only to Mark Wood. Pakistan like bowling fast and Australia relish facing it. The top batsman coming from Australia is worth a look.

Australia to have the highest opening partnership
Since the start of 2022, Australia’s opening partnerships have been formidable. They lost their first wicket with an average of 43.46 runs on the board, compared to Pakistan’s 33.33 runs. Australia score quicker too, their opening partnership run rate (6.95) is almost two runs higher than Pakistan’s (4.81). Although Australia’s openers haven’t quite fired at this World Cup so far, they have the capability to get their innings off to a flyer. As such they are in a good place to have the highest opening partnership.
High scoring venue
The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore has only hosted three ODIs since 2013 but has produced high first innings totals of 383, 334 and 286. It is a typically high-scoring ground in T20s and should suit batting. In the 2023 IPL, the average innings total at the ground was 192 with 9.6 sixes hit per innings. 600+ total match runs, 12+ total 6s, and 160+ combined first 15 over runs is a long shot, but it could just come off.
