Anthony Joshua’s bid to return to the top of the heavyweight game has become a whole heap more difficult after being battered by Daniel Dubois.
AJ – a former two-time unified champ having held the WBA, IBF and WBO titles twice between 2016 and 2021 before eventually losing them to current holder Oleksandr Usyk – now finds his career at a bit of a crossroads following the Dubois demolition at Wembley.
As an amateur, Joshua represented Team GB at the 2012 Olympics winning gold and, at the time, was hailed as the next big thing in boxing. He turned professional in 2014 and won his first world title in 2016. His famous victory over Wladimir Klitschko a year later broke box office records and saw him recognised by many as the best heavyweight in the world at the time.
AJ then went on to win the WBO title defeating Joseph Parker before dramatically losing all his belts in a shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019. He later reclaimed the titles in the rematch but lost them again to Usyk two years later.
The likes of Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou were swiftly despatched before losing to Dubois in a scrap for the IBF belt.
It leaves Joshua searching for a route back to the top so who is he facing next?

Anthony Joshua next fight opponent
Anthony Joshua’s next fight has yet to be confirmed but Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn has indicated that a rematch with Daniel Dubois is on the cards.
“I am sure he’ll exercise that rematch clause,” Hearn said. “I think that’s a given.”
Dubois’ promoter Frank Warren seems less keen, however, with a second bout against Oleksandr Usyk being eyed.
