Anthony Cacace v Josh Warrington
Cacace To Win the Fight in Round 9-12
It is always Riyadh Season somewhere in the world, and this weekend, it’s in London! The Daniel Dubois v Anthony Joshua card at Wembley is stacked with talent and I’ve got the picks of Paddy’s prices.
Joshua Buatsi v Willy Hutchinson
Buatsi To Win the Fight in Round 9-12
World-level contender, Joshua Buatsi seemed to be on a collision course with light heavyweight rival Anthony Yarde. But when Yarde found himself in contractual disputes, Willy Hutchinson’s sweeping victory over Craig Richards in June put him at the front of the queue for a fight with the 2016 Olympic medalist.
Buatsi’s win over Richards wasn’t as comprehensive, and the unbeaten Londoner hasn’t won by KO since 2021. It’s been a stuttering career for a boxer who did so well as an amateur, but I still think he has the potential to win a world title. For all of Hutchinson’s ability, he can be overwhelmed – I’m backing Buatsi to get a late stoppage win.
Tyler Denny v Hamzah Sheeraz
Sheeraz To Win the Fight in Round 1-3
Tyler Denny has been the underdog since his career began, but the rapidly improving southpaw has won and defended the English and European middleweight titles in his last six bouts. Hamzah Sheeraz has been touted for big things for a while, and over the previous two years, he’s shown the gears that could take him to the top.
Sheeraz has won his last 14 fights by KO, and three of his last four wins have come inside two rounds. Denny is awkward and has heart and hustle, but the towering Sheeraz will nullify that with his long jab, and I think Hamzah can bring the big shots behind his left hand and get another early victory.
Anthony Cacace v Josh Warrington
Cacace To Win the Fight in Round 9-12
Anthony Cacace caused a severe shock in the boxing world when he knocked out Joe Cordina to win the super featherweight title in May, and the Belfast man is back to defend his title against former champ and fan favourite Josh Warrington on Saturday.
The ‘Leeds Warrior’ has endured a tough three years – he’s lost three times, drawn once and won the other one, and although he still looks sharp and fit, it seems like his punch resistance has been dented. This bout is a step up in weight for Warrington, but I expect it will be competitive until Cacace’s powers tell in the final rounds.
