Money talks and so did Frank Warren of Queensbury Promotions and Eddie Hearn of Matchroom as soon as the Saudi government started backing boxing.

The idea: Frank picks five fighters and Eddie picks five, and we have a little team competition, and it’s all happening in Riyadh this weekend live on DAZN. Sign me up!

‌Willy Hutchinson v Craig Richards – Craig Richards To Win The Fight In Round 7 – 12

‌The opening fight of the night is not the most hyped or has the biggest names, but it will be a very tasty scrap. Hutchinson, 25, is a super-talented and smart-mouthed Scot with fast hands and slick skills, while Richards, 34, is a tough, awkward veteran looking to get back to the top table.

The contest is a tough call, but I think the deciding factor will be Richard’s experience – the Londoner has faced world champion Dmitry Bivol and Olympic medallist Joshua Buatsi, and although he lost both he gave a very good account of himself. Hutchinson has folded once before, and I think he will have the fight beaten out him late in this one.

‌Filip Hrgovic v Daniel Dubois – Daniel Dubois Points or Decision

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury have the heavyweight belts tied up for now, but the winner of Hrgovic-Dubois becomes a mandatory challenger for a title shot. These are two prospects on the cusp of becoming big names – Hrgovic has an unbeaten record and Olympic medal-pedigree, while Dubois has done his learning in the professional game.

‌It is the weaknesses of each man that will decide this fight. The Croatian heavy, 31, is well-schooled in the Eastern European style but he’s a bit slow and stiff. Dubois, 25, has impressive agility and speed for a big man, but against Usyk and Joe Joyce he seemed to have his will broken before succumbing to TKO defeats.

‌The defeats for Dubois were against the best of this era and an on-form juggernaut, and when the London lad faced an onslaught from Jarrell Miller in December he rode it out, and battered the American. I think Dubois will build a lead and have his heart tested in the middle rounds again, but he’ll come through it and secure another valuable win on points.

Raymond Ford v Nick Ball – Draw

Possible fight-of-the-night is the featherweight world title fight between American champ Ford and British challenger Ball. Ford won the strap in a ding-dong battle against Otabek Kholmatov in March with a 12th round knockout, and in the same month, Ball drew with Rey Vargas for a different version of the 126-pound crown.

‌The New Jersey native can box long and use his fast hands, but he also likes to fight in close, while pocket-sized puncher Ball overcomes his height deficit by launching in with big hooks. I expect this will be full-blooded action, and it could be scrappy at times – I think both men are skilled, strong, and gritty, and it will be a very close call on the cards.

Hamzah Sheeraz v Austin Williams – Hamzah Sheeraz To Win the Fight in Round 9 – 12

‌My tip for the best bout on the card is the middleweight contest between unbeaten contenders Sheeraz and Williams. Both men are very highly regarded but this is the first time either one of them is in a 50:50 fight. There are a lot of unknowns but Paddy is putting Essex’s Hamzah as the pre-fight favourite.

‌Sheeraz, 25, has scored 13 KO wins on the bounce, and in his last fight he stopped former title challenger Liam Williams in one round. ‘Ammo’ Williams, 28, has fast hands and is as cocky in the ring as he is outside of it, but he hasn’t shown that elite ability he promised in his early career.

‌The lanky Brit hasn’t outboxed anyone of quality over several rounds and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was outmaneuvered by the ring smarts of Williams, however, I think the most likely outcome is another KO win for Sheeraz. The Texan can be tagged and I think Hamzah’s hard jab will open up William’s guard for big shots late in the contest.

Deontay Wilder v Zhilei Zhang – Deontay Wilder in Rounds 7-12

‌The ‘Bronze Bomber’ versus ‘Big Bang’ is always going to be explosive – the two veterans are two of the biggest punchers in the sport, but both are coming off humbling points defeats to Joseph Parker. These men are only targeting mega-fights now, and both still think they have the power to win a world title.

‌In the past four-and-a-half years Wilder, 38, has lost three times and only won once, the losses were to Fury and Parker, but the inactivity, especially against Parker, looks to have been a factor. Zhang, 41, has weighed in at new career heaviest weights in his last two bouts, and I think he needs better conditioning to regain top form.

‌Despite their ages, I think both can improve on recent performances. Zhang has always had engine issues and he’s never won by KO after round 6, I think Wilder will try to diffuse the situation with range early in the fight, but he has huge heart and the power that has got him 42 KOs in 43 wins and I think he’ll get another big win with a late stoppage.
