Breaking – John Fury starts fight with his own shadow, loses

Tyson Fury's father, John, has had an eventful few days in Saudi Arabia ahead of his son's bout with Oleksandr Usyk...

Tyson Fury’s dad has injured both his hands following a vicious brawl with his own shadow ahead of Saturday’s undisputed heavyweight championship bout with Oleksandr Usyk at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia.

The build-up to the clash turned ugly when the 59-year-old threw punches at his shadow which he claimed was invading his personal space.

‘I warned him to keep his distance, but he just wouldn’t stop following me’, John told reporters.

‘Everywhere I went, he was there with me. So, I whipped my top off and let the b*****d have it’.

‘At the end of the day, we’re fighting people. I don’t care if you’re Jake Paul, some young Ukrainian lad minding his own business or a two-dimensional silhouette – you’re going to get what’s coming’.

Asked about the heavy strapping on his hands, John said:

‘I’ve landed a few blows and, to be fair to the lad, he didn’t go down’.

‘Proper hard f***er too. It was like punching a brick wall’.

Following the incident, there have been calls from within the boxing community to send John Fury home in disgrace.

However, Tyson Fury’s camp have attempted to pour cold water on the situation by releasing the following statement.

‘The Furys wish to put the matter behind them and concentrate on Saturday’s defeat to Usyk.

‘John regrets his actions and would like the media to respect his right to extra publicity in the days leading up to the fight’.

Meanwhile, Paddy Power News understands Tyson Fury is exploring every loophole to see if he can pull out of Saturday’s fight with Usyk because of his father’s injuries.

A source within the Fury camp told us:

‘Tyson’s tried everything. Shaving against the grain. Even sparring with Wolverine. He just can’t seem to get cut. Unless the boxing board recognise sympathy pains as a legitimate injury, it looks like Tyson will have no other option than to fight Usyk this time’.
