AJ’s next opponent: Kownacki favourite with Jarrell Miller fight in doubt

It looks like Anthony Joshua might be in need of a new opponent for his next heavyweight title defence and we reckon it could be a Polish powerhouse.

With Anthony Joshua’s US debut in doubt due to Jarrell Miller’s failed drug test, bookmakers have priced up who his next opponent may be.

Paddy Power make unbeaten Polish boxer Adam Kownacki the 2/1 favourite to face AJ on June 1, with old foe Dillian Whyte next most likely at 4/1.

Manuel Charr (5/1), Michael Hunter (6/1) and Trevor Bryan (10/1) are also in the betting, while the chances of AJ and Jarrell Miller actually meeting despite the ‘adverse findings’ in his drug test are rated at 8/1.

PaddyPower.com’s boxing odds are a knockout

People have clamoured to see AJ fight either Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury, but our number crunchers believe that’s unlikely to happen this time around and make them both a 100/1 chance.

Asked about the situation spokesman Paddy Power said: “Roll up, roll up, who fancies jumping in the ring with Anthony Joshua at late notice to get battered?

“It looks like there’s an opening to fight AJ at Madison Square Garden following a positive Jarell Miller drug test. We think the most likely opponent will be Adam Kownacki – though really, we all just want to see him fight Fury or Wilder – but that’s rated 100/1 – so I’m not holding my breath.”

ANTHONY JOSHUA’S NEXT OPPONENT

2/1        Adam Kownacki
4/1        Dillian Whyte
5/1        Manuel Charr
5/1        Luis Ortiz
6/1        Joseph Parker
