With the eyes of the world on Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor as they weighed in last night, little did they know Paddy Power’s Las Vegas punt was about to pay out big time.
After agreeing a back-office deal at Mayweather’s gentleman’s club Girl Collection, it was actually seeing Floyd in his underwear that we were interested in.
With betting being an intrinsic part of the fight, we simply had to be involved. The obvious route would have been to work with McGregor, but at Paddy Power we like to do the unexpected.
Wake up Conor. It's all over. pic.twitter.com/xPTwmDhBmO

We have a proud heritage of ‘WTF?’ moments centred around mind-boggling collaborations and Floyd Mayweather Jr fits in perfectly with that. So we stayed true to form last night as Money took to the scales in his glorious custom pair of Paddy Power Lucky Pants.
Needless to say, Conor McGregor supporters were notoriously unhappy with us backing one of boxing’s biggest icons in – of all things – a boxing match.
Let’s give you a taster:
Hope McGregor smokes him now and stings you's for millions! #Sellouts

Lot of people don't seem to realise PP is a business. Should they make Ireland odds on favs against Germany in football too? For patriotism?

To be fair, even the odds suggest McGregor is a huge underdog tonight. However, if he shocks the world we’ll be see plenty more where these tweets came from.
We may just lock Paddy in the octagon with The Notorious One too, if he’ll still talk to us that is…
