NBA Tips: Cunningham, Mobley & Avdija starring in our 19/1 Sunday Multi-Match Bet Builder

Peter Sharland is all over the action on Sunday night, featuring the Celtics, Pistons, Cavaliers & Rockets.

There are some fascinating games this Sunday in the NBA.

In the early games, we see the best team in the East and one of the surprise packages in the East both face teams towards the bottom of the West. That top team is, of course, the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have had a particularly weird week. More on that later.

Later, we see the Boston Celtics, the East’s top challengers, travel West to face perhaps the most fun young team in the league in the Pacific Northwest. Our final game is a blockbuster, a clash between second and third out West.

It all promises to be yet another wonderful slate of NBA games. Our basketball guru, Peter Sharland, is on hand to give his best bets for the games…

Today’s NBA Tips

7:10pm New Orleans Pelicans @ Detroit Pistons
Cade Cunningham to score 25+ points

7:40pm Cleveland Cavaliers @ Utah Jazz
Evan Mobley, Over 27.5 Points + Rebounds

10:10pm Boston Celtics @ Portland Trail Blazers
Kristaps Porzingis, Over 6.5 rebounds
Deni Avdija, Over 19.5 points

11:10pm Denver Nuggets @ Houston Rockets
Alperen Sengun, Over 10.5 rebounds

New Orleans Pelicans @ Detroit Pistons

Cade Cunningham to score 25+ points

These two actually played earlier in the week and the result was a very comfortable win for Detroit and we can’t see anything other than that again this time around. The Pelicans have remained miserable for the entire season and are still locked in a four-way battle for the top pick in the draft (with one of the teams we’ll talk about next) and we cannot see them getting anything out of this one.

For Detroit Cade Cunningham remains the star of the show as they battle to get into that race for the fourth seed in the East. We think he’ll continue to score big in this one.

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Utah Jazz

Evan Mobley, Over 27.5 Points + Rebounds

What a bizarre week for the Cavaliers. They came into this week on the back of a 15-game winning streak and have suddenly lost four in a row and now have the second-highest active losing streak in the league. Funny old game, basketball, isn’t it?

They should get it right later today against the team with the second-worst record in the league, the Utah Jazz, but who knows anymore? Whether they win or lose, we like Evan Mobley to have a big say in proceedings.

Boston Celtics @ Portland Trail Blazers

Kristaps Porzingis, Over 6.5 rebounds

Are the Portland Trail Blazers the best young team in basketball? Absolutely not. Are they the best young team to watch? They might well be. Going against the defending champions will be a tough test for this young group, but after knocking off the Nuggets (admittedly without Nikola Jokic), they’ll come into this one with no fear.

Deni Avdija, Over 19.5 points

Deni Avdija is the hot hand at the moment, and we like him to hit his over, which is set at 19.5 points. For reference, he has gone over 30 in each of his last games. As for Boston, Kristaps Porzingis has had back-to-back games with 10 or more rebounds. With his over-under set at 6.5 boards, we like him to keep that form going.

Denver Nuggets @ Houston Rockets

Alperen Sengun, Over 10.5 rebounds

As we mentioned above, Denver have been missing Jokic through injury, and they will be without their talisman again for this showdown in Texas. What we’ve learned over the last two games is that Denver, without Jokic, might not be that great a team. Perhaps this is a stupid thing to say when you consider how any team would cope without the best player in the world, but it still has to be concerning for Nuggets fans.

The Rockets, meanwhile, are the hottest team in the league. They have the longest active winning streak in the NBA, having won their last nine in a row. It’s hard to see any outcome other than a Houston win, and we fancy Sengun to get into double-digits for rebounds, something he has done for five games straight.
