Our tipster Peter Sharland sets us up for tonight's games Stateside.

After a thrilling week of NBA Cup action, stay tuned to Paddy Power News for tips on the final on Tuesday evening. Teams that failed to reach the showpiece event will again focus on the regular season.

Premier League fans who think the football Christmas schedule is frantic could do well to look at the NBA’s calendar during this period. The games are coming thick and fast, and with the trade deadline approaching in early February, this is the period that can shape how teams view the rest of their season.

Read on to see what Peter Sharland is tipping this week…

NBA tips

Sunday 10.10pm: New Orleans Pelicans @ Indiana Pacers
Tyrese Haliburton to score 20+ points

Sunday 11.10pm: Boston Celtics @ Washington Wizards
Payton Pritchard to score 15+ points

Sunday 11.10pm: New York Knicks @ Orlando Magic
Karl-Anthony Towns 14+ rebounds

Monday 1.40am: Dallas Mavericks @ Golden State Warriors
Luka Doncic to hit a double-double

New Orleans Pelicans @ Indiana Pacers

Tyrese Haliburton to score 20+ points

This is one of the few matchups in the NBA in which the Pacers, complaining about their injury luck, seem ungrateful. The Pelicans are battling hard, but the odds seem firmly stacked against them at every turn.

New Orleans has played twice since we spoke last week, losing by five to San Antonio and just two against Sacramento. Indiana lost a tight one last weekend before bouncing back with a more convincing win over the 76ers.

Tyrese Haliburton scored 32 against Philly and should produce another strong scoring night against the struggling Pelicans.

Boston Celtics @ Washington Wizards

Payton Pritchard to score 15+ points

WE HAVE PAYTON PRITCHARD MARKETS! Regular readers of this column will remember a couple of weeks ago, this author’s chagrin at the market-setters ignoring the Oregon alum, but no longer!

Pritchard is currently the odds-on favourite to win 6th Man of the Year, and it’s not hard to see why. He’s averaging 16.5 ppg, 3.2 assists and 3.3 rebounds this season and has become a key cog in how the champions play.

With Washington’s worst record in the league, we feel confident he will score at least 15 points in this one. Frankly, we wouldn’t be against you upping your bet to 20+ to match Haliburton.

New York Knicks @ Orlando Magic

Karl-Anthony Towns 14+ rebounds

Two teams that lost in the NBA quarterfinals earlier in the week probably hoped they could have made a run. However, the Knicks’ loss to the Hawks continued the antagonism between Trae Young and the entire state of New York, which remains one of the best rivalries in sports.

These two teams met two weeks ago, with New York coming out on top. But despite sitting in the top four in the East, neither has been able to find consistency recently, often winning one and then losing one rather than stringing together results.

We’re playing it safe here and going for Towns to hit his over on rebounds (14), something he has done in his last five games.

Dallas Mavericks @ Golden State Warriors

Luka Doncic to hit a double-double

We were this close (gestures a tiny amount) to putting a triple-double here, with Doncic having two in his last three games, but in the end, we decided a double-double is safer. Doncic has reached a double-double in all five games since returning from injury and has benefitted from the rest.

Of course, the main topic of discussion surrounding this game is the health of Steph Curry, the superstar guard whose status on the injury report is questionable.

We had hoped Curry would finally perform at his best again after his fitness issues, but we’re not out of the woods yet.

For that reason, we’re focusing on Doncic rather than Steph. Just keep your fingers crossed that we will see the two stars battle against each other tonight.
