The NBA season rolls on and there’s a packed slate of games on Sunday evening – including the Suns @ Timberwolves at 8:40pm live on TNT Sports.
We’ve got a lot of back-to-backs as some teams face each other for the second night in a row in the NBA Cup, but in a hefty slate, our basketball tipster, Peter Sharland, reckons there are good options about…

Phoenix Suns @ Minnesota Timberwolves
NBA game at Target Center, Minneapolis
TV: TNT Sports, Dicsovery+, 8:40pm
Anthony Edwards, Over 27.5 points
The Suns are on a brutal run and are really struggling without superstar Kevin Durant who remains out (calf). They’ve lost three out of their last four and will be without Bradley Beal as well as KD when they travel to Minnesota.
The Wolves finally got right last night against the Kings in overtime after losing three on the spin, including back-to-back against the suddenly frisky Trail Blazers. After being held to 22, 26, and 24 in that run, Anthony Edwards rebounded with a mammoth 36-point game, and against the struggling Suns, we’re backing him to get past 30 again.
Miami Heat @ Indiana Pacers
NBA game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis
TV: NBA League Pass, 10:10 pm
Tyler Herro, points & assists, Over 29.5
One of familiar friends games, the Heat and Pacers will do battle again after the former won 124-111 last night.
We’re backing Herro to hit his combined points and assists against a Pacers team that despite playing just twice this week already looks it could use a break.
Herro had hit that figure in each of his past five games before he fell just short last night.
Despite that, with Jimmy Butler still out, we’re backing Herro to keep going strong and lead this Miami team alongside star center Bam Adebayo.
Charlotte Hornets @ Cleveland Cavaliers
NBA game at Spectrum Center, Charlotte
TV: NBA League Pass, 12:10 am, 11:10 am
Cleveland Cavaliers – 10.5
Yes, Donovan Mitchell won’t be playing after irritating his knee last night but we still think that Cleveland’s truly astonishing start to the season will carry on. Of course it has to end at some point but we’re backing it to carry on for at least one more game.
Brooklyn Nets @ New York Knicks
NBA game at Madison Square Garden, New York
TV: NBA League Pass, 12:10 am
Over 219 points
And here’s another back-to-back. Last night’s New York rivalry match-up was a thriller, with the Knicks edging it 124-122 behind Jalen Brunson’s 37-point night. However, the Nets and Cam Thomas (43 points) showed that, if nothing else, they are not going to be an easy out for pretty much anyone this year. With two high-octane offences we’re hitting the over on total points for this one.
Dallas Mavericks @ Oklahoma City Thunder
NBA game at Paycom Center, Oklahoma
TV: TNT Sports, Discovery+, 12:10 am
Oklahoma City Thunder -5.5
The Mavericks finally got right last night against Texas rivals San Antonio to stop a four-game skid but going across the state border to Oklahoma is a different kettle of fish entirely. After last Sunday’s loss to the Warriors OKC have reeled off three in a row albeit not against truly stellar opposition.
This should have been an early-season battle between the two favourites to come out of the West, but Dallas just hasn’t gotten it going yet, and we can’t put any trust in them. So, despite Chet Holmgren still missing, we’re backing OKC to cover the spread.
