Houston Rockets @ Detroit Pistons – Alpen Sengun to make 10+ rebounds

The Pistons got frisky this week, beating the Nets, Lakers, and Hawks while running the Hornets close. However, sitting at 5-4, the Rockets are no pushovers. They’re being led by Alpen Sengun, who is slowly morphing into the league’s next great big man.

Sengun’s 100 rebounds put him in the top ten this season, and he is only 19 off-joint-leaders Nikola Jokic and Jarrett Allen.

Going up against Detroit’s tandem of Jalen Duren and Isiah Stewart is undoubtedly a test – even if the former is questionable – but Sengun is showing that he’s becoming the kind of player where matchups don’t matter.

Boston Celtics @ Milwaukee Bucks – Jayson Tatum to hit his over (+28.5 points)

Considering pre-season expectations, no team has had a more catastrophic start to the season than the Milwaukee Bucks, who sit third from bottom in the East with a horrible record of 2-7. And now they have to face the champions? Things are certainly starting to curdle for Doc Rivers in the Dairy State.

Tatum is putting together an MVP-type season, leading the league in scoring, as he takes last year’s snub personally—not to mention the Olympic drama. With no Khris Middleton, it’s hard to see how the Bucks will have any answer for Tatum; he should hit his over easily.

New York Knicks @ Indiana Pacers – Karl-Anthony Towns to hit his over (+23.5 points)

Both teams are 2-2 in their last four, and despite sitting in the top five in the East, it really feels as if neither has gotten going this season. It doesn’t help that both are really struggling with health, with four Knicks on the injury report for this game and six for Indiana.

Neither are particularly great offences, but while New York is strong on defence, the Pacers are struggling. After scoring a combined 66 points in his last two games, we’re predicting Karl-Anthony Towns to keep rolling and hit him over.

Golden State Warriors @ Oklahoma City Thunder – Total Points Under

Match-ups don’t get much tastier than this, with the second and fourth-best records in the league going head-to-head. This is the fifth and final game of the Warriors’ road trip on which they took out the Rockets and Celtics, although last time out, their win streak was snapped by the still-unbeaten Cavaliers.

This will be billed as a potential back-and-forth shootout, but if you’ve watched these two teams, you know their strength lies in defence. In fact, per the NBA’s defensive rating metric, these are the best defensive sides in the league.

For the Warriors, Draymond Green—one of the best defenders we’ve seen—is heaping credit on new assistant coach Jerry Stackhouse for shaking up the established playbook, having come in from the college game.

However, on the other side sits a unit that has the chance to be historic defensively. Mark Daigneault’s five-guard line-up has been incredible in recent games. Do yourself a favour and take the under.

Dallas Mavericks @ Denver Nuggets – Nikola Jokic over combined assists and points

Whisper it, but the Denver Nuggets might have finally woken up, and they’re mad. They heard everyone writing their obituaries and people saying the dynasty was over.

The former champs have reeled off four straight and have catapulted up to fifth in the West. That run included handing the Thunder their first loss of the season in an all-time classic.

As he so often is, Serbian superstar Nikola Jokic has been key to the run. The Joker is still the best player in the world. This season, he is first in total rebounds, second in total assists, and third in total points.

To round things off, we love this combined bet to see Jokic hit over 38.5 combined points and assists, something he’s failed to do twice this season.
