As European football finally jets off to Dubai for a hard-earned rest, for a week or two at least, it gives us a chance to get our teeth into some of the other oft-neglected sports across the globe this weekend. And what a weekend it is.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

We’ve got the British and Irish Lions fine-tuning their preparations in South Africa, as well as the F1 at Silverstone and the vial Game 5 from the NBA finals across the pond.

Saturday 5pm: Stormers v Lions – Cowan-Dickie Anytime try

The British and Irish Lions will be licking their wounds after suffering a bruising 17-13 loss to a scandalously strong ‘South Africa A’ side on Wednesday night. Of course, it’s not the real deal just yet, but it’s a stark warning to Warren Gatland about what his side can expect to face when the Tests begin.

Saturday 5pm: Stormers v British and Irish Lions
Sky Sports Action

His side would be disappointed to have lost the game, even more so because the ‘A’ side were down to 13 men for a decent period of time. Stormers will surely put up no such test. With The Lions expected to rack up a big win, and with an emphasis on tweaking their power outpur, Luke Cowan-Dickie to Score an Anytime try feels like a good bet.

The Exeter Chiefs star is not a prolific try scorer, but the expected physicality that The Lions will show on Saturday should play perfectly into his hands and compliment what he does domestically. Expect plenty of muscle at the breakdowns and some Chiefs-style pressure on the line which Cowan-Dickie should be perfectly placed to take advantage of.

Sunday 2.10am: Milwaukee Bucks @ Phoenix Suns – Bucks (+4)

The Bucks have stormed back from 0-2 to make it 2-2 in their NBA Finals with the Suns heading into Game 5. They’ve found some form again and the 120-100 Game 3 victory was spearheaded by their outstanding two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo while Khris Middleton was the main man on Thursday.

Milwaukee Bucks

Sunday 2.10am: Milwaukee Bucks @ Phoenix Suns
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Arena

The Greek Freak scored 41 points in 38 minutes in Game 3 and if he’s in the mood, the Bucks are in the mood. They have a good record when on a roll and it feels like they’ve hit their straps now. They’re back on the road here but, with the momentum firmly on their side, we’re siding with Bucks (+4).

Sunday 3pm: Max Verstappen to Win the F1 British Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has been outstanding in his home Grand Prix recently, winning six of the last seven races at Silverstone, but it’s hard to see that becoming seven from eight. Red Bull have seemingly overhauled Mercedes and are in good shape to end the champions’ stranglehold on the sport.

Mercedes have won every constructors’ championship title since Red Bull last triumphed in 2013, but they’re not at their best this year and even Hamilton admits his car is off the pace at the moment. The best bet this Sunday at Silverstone is undoubtedly Max Verstappen to Win the F1 British Grand Prix and take his sixth Grand Prix of the season and fourth in a row.

Our weekend treble

Saturday 5pm: Stormers v The Lions – Luke Cowan-Dickie Anytime try
Sunday 2.10am: Milwaukee Bucks @ Phoenix Suns – Bucks (+4)
Sunday 3pm: Max Verstappen to Win the F1 British Grand Prix

These selections in a treble will give you odds of around 6/1 with Paddy Power.
