Watch: Wade flings buzzer-beating winner to down NBA champs

Yeah, Dwayne Wade is still playing....

While LeBron James is long gone from South Beach, the man who tempted his talents to South Beach and partnered him in multiple championship runs is still lining out for the Florida side, though things haven’t been the same since their leader left for Cleveland a few years back.

Wade is enjoying a Kobe-like retirement-tour season, and pulled out a shot reminiscent of one of the Black Mamba’s most memorable moments against the defending champion Warriors last night to notch an incredible win.

With just under three seconds remaining and Golden State leading by two, the Heat veteran found himself open with the ball in his hands at the three-point line. He’s gotta nail this, right?

Well, not quite.

Warriors defender Jordan Bell makes a block out of nowhere and almost steals the ball. Wade recovers possession somehow and in a moment of panic flings the ball in the general direction of the basket…

Cue delirium at AmericanAirlines Arena.

It’s bit of sickener to lose that way for the Warriors, but won’t make all that much difference – they still should cruise to a third-straight title and fourth in five years as they’re 4/9 favourites already – while for the Heat, they’re fighting to make the playoffs in the East.

At least for one night they had a reminder of what it was like to beat the best and Wade added another highlight moment to his glittering career.

And he even remembered to credit Kobe for inspiring the bank-shot winner.

Here’s the shot he’s talking about, from way back in ’09.
