Watch: LeBron on fire as he drops 51 in Miami return

The best player in the game returned to South Beach in a Lakers uniform last night and put on a special performance for his old fans...

It’s four years since LeBron hauled his talents from Miami back to Ohio, and though he finally broke Cleveland’s championship curse in 2016, he hadn’t managed to get one over on the Heat since his departure.

Until last night.

Now sunning himself on the west coast in Lakers gold, his new team are swinging through his old haunts on a three-game road trip, and if we were the Cleveland Cavaliers we might start praying for mercy now.

James hit the bullseye last night, topping 50 points for the 14th time in his career, and the first time with his new team as LA won by 113-97. He went over the half-century in perfect style with an audacious fadeaway three-pointer:

According to his post-game interview last night, he made the outlandish effort because his teammate Lance Stephenson said he couldn’t:

Maybe the Lakers should dare him to do it more often.

Now they’re heading to Cleveland for his first game back at the Quicken Loans Arena – up there with sportsdirect.com@St James’ Park in sh*tty naming rights deals – and he’ll fancy his chances of topping 60 the way the Cavs are going.
