MLB Tips: Dodgers to dominate at the Yankees in our 15/1 World Series Bet Builder

Our tipster Andrew Cunneen sets us up for a home run on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees Yankees Stadium Baseball

Well, it was entirely predictable. If the NLDS felt like the real World Series, it’s probably because it was. People must remember that while the Dodgers and Yankees are the two most prominent names in baseball, only one runs their organisation correctly.

The Yankees went all in on star power through Judge, Soto, Stanton, and Jazz, hoping it stuck through probability. But it’s never felt right.

The Dodgers had genuine perseverance and had to contest a divisional series right down to the last, while the Yankees focused on selling jerseys and still came into a World Series without the biggest star.

Now, we have a Yankees squad down 0-3, hated by its home crowd and looking dejected. This game does not go past game four because there isn’t a will to do so.

MLB tips

Over 8.5 runs
Teoscar Hernandez to hit a home run
Luis Gil under 3.5 strikeouts

Over 8.5 runs

So, Luis Gil is being trotted out for the Yankees to save their season. He is the man who should have started game three, a situation without much pressure in comparison.

He will have to force outs if he doesn’t have run support early. And you cannot do this against such a dynamic lineup.

This is a do-or-die type situation for the Yankees, and that’s far too much emotion for a game that requires patience at the plate. Particularly when you factor in someone like Juan Soto. Judge is an obvious candidate to throw up multiple swings and misses, while you can rule out the bottom of the order when manufacturing RISP.

The Dodgers are going for a bullpen game, which doesn’t give the Yankees hitters any time to get used to deliveries and wait on their pitches. But if things go wrong for the bullpen, Roberts could save his leverage arms for later in the series and take a heavy run-allowed number.

Teoscar Hernandez to hit a home run

Hernandez is the ultimate batter in these situations. Hernandez capitalises on what pitchers consider easy first strikes as Ohtani, Mookie, and Freddie get long at-bats. It’s how he’s inflated his SLG all year, knowing he’s following the toughest 1-2-3-4 in all major leagues.

He’s also not the type to focus on moving the runs along when he senses weakness. And while New York isn’t overly friendly for batters, it’s posting identical numbers to Dodgers Stadium. Go figure.

Teoscar Hernandez

Luis Gil – Under 3.5 strikeouts

The Dodgers don’t need to swing for the fences – remember that. They’re also facing a team who are opting for a bullpen day. They will if they need to do the same if Gil struggles early. And seeing him hooked after four innings wouldn’t be a surprise.

You can, therefore, benefit from a near-instant winner when the Yankees struggle for oxygen.
