A new Vice President? Odds slashed on Royal baby to be named Kamala

Harry and Meghan are expecting again, but what's the name on everyone's lips?

It’s been a busy few weeks for Harry and Meghan. The royal couple announced they were expecting their second child on Valentine’s Day and then doubled down on their commitment to go their own way by insisting they will not return to royal duties on Friday.

It signals another step towards the US over the UK and could Meghan Markle tip her hat to vice president Kamala Harris with the naming of their second child? Perhaps so, as the odds on the new Royal Baby being called exactly that were slashed dramatically this afternoon.

Kamala Harris

The odds on the couple’s next child being named after the first female VP have plummeted from 100/1, putting the name in the top five most likely to be picked. Diana features prominently in the betting ahead of Arthur and Allegra.

Despite the sex of the baby being unknown at the moment, girls names have been four times as popular in the betting than boys. Paddy’s punters clearly think a tribute is possible, but it’s significantly less likely that a homage is paid to the recently-departed president Donald Trump.

The UK’s current PM, Boris, is also something of a long shot. If Harry decides to keep it in the family then Charles and Phillip currently feature quite highly in the markets.
