That’s the spirit Paddy! Dunkirk favourite for Oscar glory

World War II tale is Academy Awards' front-runner as it hits the big screen

It only hits cinemas this weekend but Paddy has already made the World War II epic – Dunkirk – favourite for Best Picture glory at next year’s Oscars.

Christopher Nolan’s flick is expected to be the box-office smash of the summer with the online bookmaker making it 5/6 that the movie will gross $40m or more in the US this weekend.

Critics are raving about the former Batman director’s 10th movie that tells the true story of 300,000 Allies troops being rescued in northern France over eight days in May 1940.

And with Nolan’s storytelling taking less artistic licence than your average tale from Donald Trump, both The Current War and The Papers  have a lot to live up to, as the hype machine goes into early overdrive.
