I wanted to take on Running Lion and after doing a deep dive I landed on Breege for John and Sean Quinn. She ran really well in the Sandringham behind Coppice last year and she ran well on her seasonal reappearance at Goodwood in May. She can improve on that run.
14:35 – Embesto (NAP)
I like Roger Varian’s Embesto, who will have a hood on. He can race a bit keenly and he will have to have improved through the winter but he ran okay in his return at Newmarket in April. He’s drawn just inside Regal Reality and I’ll take my chances on him.
15:10 – Mashadi
Mashadi didn’t stay on his last start at Ascot in May. He looked set to win but he folded in the last 50 yards. That was over 6f and this contest is over 5f. He’ll relish that trip and he’s better than his handicap mark of 84.
15:45 – Silky Wilkie & One Night Stand
Silky Wilkie is an obvious pick at the top of the market. He’s 8lbs lower than when second in this race last year. He’s got cheekpieces on for the first time too. There’s nothing to dislike!
One Night Stand is a bigger-priced pick to keep an eye on. He ran on well last year and he’s drawn in stall 10 for Saffie Osborne and Scott Dixon.
16:30 – Los Angeles
I’m not forgiving City of Troy’s odds-on defeat in the 2000 Guineas. I’m siding with one of Aidan O’Brien’s other runners Los Angeles. He beat his stablemate Euphoric last time out at Leopardstown on his seasonal reappearance. He has to step forward but he can show more improvement.
